A weak ground is usually composed of fine particles such as clays or silts organic soil with larges spaces or loose sands or peat. The underground water level is high and there is usually a problem with stability and sinking of a structure.

It is an economical and efficient vertical drain method that improves the weak ground. A PBD(plastic board drain)layer is artificially formed in a ground with poor permeability and compression such as clay, silt or peat, so that the ground is sunk very quickly for the purpose of stabilization.

1. Filter material
Filter material exclusively for a vertical drain. Polypropylene or polyester is used.
To prevent clogging by entry of soil particles into the drain material, an effective pore size(AOS) should be set to lower than 80um. At the minimum of 500N to 700N(KS K 0743), sufficient tensile strength is obtained.

Highly resistant against alkaline, acids or bacteria.

2. Core materials

The material is usually polypropylene or polyethylene.

The best quality material is selected to prevent damages caused by strong soil pressure. Strong tensile strength.
The overall tensile strength is improved by combining with filter materials. It is formed as a groove. The cross-sectional view is comprised of width, length and pore water to play the role as a drainage path.

3. Drain material(filter + core)
To make the filtering area size big and drainage to be more efficient, this jack type of product separates the filter from the core.
As a filter and the core are combined, the tensile strength of 3500N/full width(KS K ISO 10319) is achieved. To maintain the sufficient drainage performance under strong side pressure, a reduction in the cross sectional area within the drain material is minimized.

A vertical drain method used to improve a weak ground. Offers advantages in terms of economy, construction and quality management.

Although the product is bent or curved by side pressure and compression during installation, the drain’s discharge capacity is not degraded.

It uses filter material with an adequate effective pore size(50 to 80um) that does not generate clogging as the fine particles move.

Excellent strength and stiffness. Despite the strong pressure, filter material is not sucked into the core groove. As a result, the cross sectional area of fluid in the drain material is not reduced significantly. Therefore, the well resistance is not increased and the discharge capacity is not degraded.

When applied to a deep hole of more than 30 meters on a weak ground, the side pressure of 300kPa to 500kPa, the hydraulic gradient and the curvature of the drain material(30%) could cause degradation in the performance. Our IAN DRAIN BOARD can maintain excellent discharge capacity.

A vertical drain method used to improve a weak ground. Offers advantages in terms of economy, construction and quality management.

It uses very light weighted equipment (ground pressure of 4.5 ton/m^2) on an extremely weak ground to secure the traffic ability. Zone smearing is minimized for installation and the working efficiency is high.

The latest PBD construction equipment developed by the constructors who are specialized in construction on weak grounds can guarantee effective and accurate construction.
